About Dana Gibson

Awash in color, the Dana Gibson collection of fabrics, lighting, and home accessories is inspired by latitudes both far-flung and familiar. Ancient ikats, curvaceous ogees, and intricate fretwork are rendered in bold strokes and infused with a distinctly American sensibility. In her hands, centuries old patterns are fresh and modern. Each piece will brighten and transform any room.

It is safe to say that art and design run in her family. Her mother is a painter and her grandmother was a sculptor. Dana's great grandfather, Charles Dana Gibson, was a renowned painter and illustrator at the turn of the last century. A great aunt, Nancy Astor, was the first woman to be elected to the House of Commons and another aunt, Nancy Lancaster, was an owner of the esteemed firm Colefax and Fowler. Strongly rooted in the American South, traditional design is at the core of what she does.

She launched her business 15 years ago with a line of hand sculpted porcelain. Many of the same floral and pastoral themes continue to abound in her work today. Her fabric and toleware feature graphic patterns applied with a painterly hand. "It's important to mix it up and make interiors interesting and dramatic." Bold colors are daringly mixed with traditional design that has stood the test of time.
